I beg to differ. HTTP doesn't strike me as a protocol that is well
designed for general purpose binary file transfer.
But more to the point, I don't see ftp as being deprecated. Far from
it. It seems to be quite alive and well in the areas I frequent.
Ditto, in the OpenVMS world FTP is the only good way to obtain your
patches. FTP retains the file attributes while http doesn't, that
is very bad with VMS files.
