The problem trying to remove the odor of cigarette
smoke is that nicotine is
not water soluble. I once cleaned our families smoke eater with kerosene to
remove the nicotine from the electrostatic plates.
I don't remember the name but there is a cleaner used on electronics that's
made from orange peels.

Good links, the immediate problem I see for most people is that the pure
stuff is clearly the best, leaves no residue etc., but is typically not
available to consumers.
