Either way,
though, this doesn't change the fact that I've worked in
datacenter environments off-and-on all my life and have NEVER seen
people using any sort of hearing protection.
I've never seen people wearing hearing protection at rock concerts
either. The problem is that people tend to ignore insults to their
hearing until it's too late.
