Wow. Confusing is probably understating things. I noted that the
symbol VHBMAGIC was used by both the 7300 and the U6000 development docs
and by no one else. Its value is "UQVQ" (,0x55515651) and leads off the
volume header for a UNIX volume--but only, it seems, in the Convergent
variation.
Linux and SysV appear to use not only a different symbol (Linux:
vh_magic) but also different values and a different structure.
So perhaps an easy way to determine "who wrote this mess"?
Was the U6000 a standard PC-type platform or was there something utterly
PC-incompatible about it?
