The only system I've found less
possible to get up and running in any form are Atari Computers.

What specifically have you had problems with and what type (Warner era
40/800 and xl's or Tramiel era ST's)?
I've never had any problems, and I've gotten some pretty grimy "left in a
box used as a trash dump for the last 25 years" Atari computers. I think
the only things Atari wise I've had minor problems with have been ST era
drives going bad.
