It was 'ahead' of its time. Great marketing didn't hinder it either!
I love the original Mac as well, but "great marketing" almost killed
it, starting with Sculley's insistence that it be priced at nearly
twice what the design team wanted. Jean-Louis Gass?e kept up the
same rhetoric, which confined Macs to the perception of an unaffordable
premium product basically until the late '90s.
