Oh dear.
I didn't know it /had/ one.
All right, that stage of the troubleshooting is done... now I have a
checkerboard and after a pause a flashing question mark floppy.
And I only have HD-format Mac boot floppies.
Thank you, Jules. I now feel both very foolish and happy at the same time. :?)
Well, you're not alone - I got my Plus (which still needs a keyboard*, if
anyone has one) only a month or so ago and your description sounded oddly
familiar :-) I'd stared at mine for a good few minutes trying to decide
whether I really wanted to dig inside right then to look for a CRT fault or
wait for later, when a very hazy memory (I last used one of these in 1992)
had reminded me of the brightness control.
* A common fate, some idiot kept the Plus but tossed out a bunch of bundled
keyboards because "all computer keyboards are the same so we only need to
keep a few". I'm not actually sure that I've got any OS disks for it, but
presumably there are ways and means to recreate those (possibly from one of
my running SE's).
cheers
Jules
