I picked up a Teletype model 43 terminal at a hamfest
this
weekend. It needs a new plastic bar that separates the
incoming from the outgoing paper as well as a new ribbon.
Can't help with the
plastic bar, but if the ribbon is an endless loop type
ribbon, you can usually pop off the plastic cover and a quick spray of WD40
will restore it to usability. If it's a single-run ribbon, you can't do
this.
This is only intended as a stopgap measure until you find a new ribbon. I've
used this trick on an Epson LX-80 and managed to get a few more weeks out of
the ribbon (the local office supply store had a three week leadtime for a
new ribbon).
Later.
