On that point I have been cutting him slack; typos like his don't bother me nearly as much as word-choice sloppiness (cf the pernicious "lo(o)se"). In this particular case, it was even more confusing than usual; I found it helpful to note that he was replying to a line of mine with a list of devices that included water heaters. As in "not portable", I would hazard to guess.
