I'm not sure I follow this. If this guy uses MythTV to save all the
shows to NAS for time-shifted viewing, how is that "illegal"?
It's not, but that's not what you implied. You implied that he has some
special setup with any show on-demand. What he has in reality is
regular broadcast television, merely timeshifted. He still gets shows
as they are broadcast.
