DJs use vinyl because it is easier to mix. Some special CD decks now have
pitch controls, but they do not have a decent way to nudge the records at
the correct times, in order to get things to sync up. This is all done in
real time, and a mistake can make lots of people on the dancefloor angry
(like the club owner).
Oh Shoot, I forgot about the whole
DJ/HipHop/twin-turntable scratching
thing. I guess they have to get records somewhere, although, I suppose
there DJ needles don't ruin records as fast as what an audiophile would use.
They also know how to treat the records properly. Gentle, gentle...
