It is useful to know what all the external connectiosn to the DC

Actually, it _is_ in the service manual I found here :

On page 275/276 of the pdf (a total of 439 pages...) there is the 'wiring diagram'
and signal descriptions.
This seems to give all the connections to the DC controller. At least you can check power
supply voltages,
motor enable signals,etc. It shoudl give you a better idea as to where the fault is.
