Synthesizers and emulators. Catweasel has a socket for one so that you
can emulate a C64 but with real C64 SID sound and read the diskettes
natively on your PC 5.25" drive. As for synths, retro sound is (still)
popular, so there are cards that take four SIDs and give you 12 voices
controllable by MIDI (including sysex stuff like filters).
