Similarly I get annoyed when people misuse the terms
'mass' and 'weight'
(in fact, last time I was asked for my weight, I gave it in newtons. If
they want to know my mass, they can ask for that!). And 'speed' .vs.
'veloctiy'.
Just for your curiosity, in portuguese "speed" and "velocity" has
the
same meaning - "velocidade". Maybe the correct term for velocity would be
"acelera??o" which means "acceleration" in english
