Why'd you replace the V480? Needed some of the newer processor features and
more capacity?
Reduced power consumption, primarily. The two T2000s together pull less
than half what the V480 pulled. I adore the V480; it's one of the most
reliable and hardest-working computers I've ever owned, and it was really
tough to slow it down. But I went through several iterations of network
upgrades here since rejoining the ranks of the gainfully employed, to reduce
expenses and improve performance in some areas.
If they were a bit lighter, I know someone that would LOVE a V480. He
could definitely benefit from the reliability.
I could actually run all of the load on one T2000, but I split them for
administrative reasons, rather than workload reasons.
Ah,
I can only hope that the T2000s last me as long as the V480 did! That
thing was a trooper. The T2000s are doing great so far.
I bet they will!
