Actually, I don't have many problems myself,
outside of the
occasional questionable cable since I've gotten them from many
different sources over the years and some are of better quality than
others. I was just stating one of the reasons people state for
avoiding using SCSI. Some implementations, such as that on the Amiga
3000, are quirkier than others though.
The one problem I've encountered with the A3000 SCSI is that it doesn't
autodetect and automount removable devices (more specifically, the SyQuest,
CDs work fine) when they are inserted.
Here are some programs for fiddling with the NVRAM settings for the A3000
SCSI. Haven't tried them yet:
SCSIPrefsMUI.lha 13231 ---arwed 20-Apr-01 21:06:09
:

SCSI-Prefs.lha 7561 ---arwed 20-Apr-01 21:14:39
:
http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/aminet/disk/misc/SCSI-Prefs.lha
And here's the program I use for manually mounting the SyQuest:
SCSIMounter203.lha 32047 ---arwed 20-Apr-01 21:15:08
:
http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/aminet/disk/misc/SCSIMounter203.lha
That one's integrated in OS 3.5 and forth, though.

You can't prove anything about a program written in C or FORTRAN. It's really
just Peek and Poke with some syntactic sugar.
