Consider the controls in house thermostats, microwave ovens, washing
machines, etc. ?All computerized; few with any operating system
whatsoever. ?Not to mention the embedded systems in the PC or Mac
you're sitting in front of.

realise /have/ an OS on them. It may be the most widespread OS in the
