Ah, so that is precisely where you are going wrong. Putting a sign above
your door saying "Please don't rob my house" rarely works, but having a
big
scary dog that is fond of biting will. In your use case swap the dog for
legalese / a lawyer.
And have a clause that you are not resposable for medical costs
if the dog does bite a theif.
