Gawd, it's been years since I saw one of those. And yes, I'd have to
look them up. IIRC you read one row of dots one way, the other in the
opposite direction. I could still do (at least the capcitance) of a
Mullard C280 though.
One thing I did find curious was that in one table of colour codes, it
claimed things like a violet tolerance band/dot meand it was +/-7%.
Was that ever used?
Memory says that the tolerance dot could take on any value from 1-9
percent, 10 and 20 percent. I'd have to go dig in some of my old
gear to see some examples of odd tolerances.
There was more than one 6-dot system in use, also. Some used the "no
color" middle dot on one of the rows to orient the reading order;
some had a dot for working voltage, etc.
