We're only about 550 miles north on Interstate 5 from San Francsico and data recovery
and conversion is what we do. We handle 8" diskettes, CP/M and otherwise, hard/soft
sectored, GCR, etc. No problem.
And you haven't LIVED until you've had to work with diskettes used in a machine
shop. Filthy, greasy things that look like they've spent time in someone's oil
sump. Fortunately, I still have a stash of Freon TF...
That said, give me 8" diskettes any day over 5.25" and 3.5" when it comes
to reliability. I've got diskettes from 1976 that read as well as when they were
new. I have 3.5" DSHD diskettes that won't read right a month after purchase.
