Yeah...I have a LaserJet IIISi. That thing is built like a frickin'
*tank*. I had a filter cap on one of the logic boards - not in the
power supply - fail; it must have failed shorted or something, because
it had arced enough to eat something like halfway through the board at
that point. I unsoldered it, cleaned off the area as best I could,
soldered a replacement in place, and it's worked fine ever since -
apparently it didn't take out anything crucial; while it's surely at
least partly luck, I was pretty impressed.
