Even if this was 1969, I couldn't tell you--reel cases were common and, as long as I
had one for every reel of tape, I didn't pay much attention.
Indeed. We had plenty of IBM cases in our PDP11 shop. And perhaps even one or two CDC
cases.
Tape racks of the time were wider-spaced to
accommodate the cases than the later "naked" auto-loading strip type.
And then there were the non-autoloading strips (?tape seals?), too; those were even
smaller.
