Hi Joe.
To create a subdirectory on the host: first, make sure the host window is
modal (or in focus, i.e. "selected"), then click on the File pulldown
option, then select "New", and then the only option that should come up is
"Folder..." It then asks you for the name of the new folder to be
created on the host.
