How many tri-state areas are there in the USA? Although it might not
receive that appellation in desolate areas, any junction of three states
with population probably calls it "tri-state".
It is certainly less common than "crossroads", "lake area",
"west
side", or "bay area" (which obviously means SF bay, not Green Bay,
Massachusetts, etc.)
