I can tell you as a fact that many of the Northstar
and Altair docs
came from my collection.
There's a thin line... acknowledgment of effort is always good. But
if I have a manual (or have made a scan of the manual) I feel that the
effort I put in is absolutely negligible compared to the original
authors/compilers effort in writing and assembling and publishing the
document in the first place.
We're just custodians, mostly.
What we might feel that we own, in terms of scanning old docs, is any
value added by the assembly of multiple related docs and indexing,
cross-indexing, etc. between docs and between docs and the "wide world".
I think that there is much that we all can contribute in continuing
to make this stuff accessible and relevant.
Tim.
