Seriously, how different (in terms of number and type of components)
is the circuitry that goes into the base of a cheap compact
fluorescent lamp from that found in a small switcher? It might be
that a better economy of scale is possible with a SMPSU wall-wart--
and you gain the advantage of 120/220v operation without changing the
design.
