I used to do that for my old Mac SE - cover the hole on a 1.44m floppy
to make it a 720k - and it works ok. It is sort of a one-way deal,
though. I could never get them to format back to 1.44. I also have no
idea what it was doing to the drive. Nothing, I think, as my son still
has that SE.
