describes the donation and the value of the donation. ?A few years back
the IRS issued rulings that said you could no longer just "claim"
donations. ?You have to have the paper work from the 501c3 org.??
When I worked in Anthropology at the Field Museum in Chicago, we would give donors a
letter stating receipt of the donation, but we did not asign a value to the donation. The
donor had to get that from a third party appriser. Most other museums that I am familiar
with have similar policies (which might even be a part of the tax code).
