within a few years. Just in case no one is able to pick them up
locally, how do you go about shipping a BA23? At one point I even
had one of the protected (with foam) shipping boxes, but no longer.
The BA23 boxes seem just too heavy to safely ship, let alone the
 consideration of the cost.
 I shipped a pair of SMS-1000's, which are basically a 3rd party BA23
back around 2001. It took two or three boxes intended for PC towers,
either foam or styrofoam, and a lot of strapping tape. I then hauled
them down to the UPS Depot, and sent them out. As I recall, it
wasn't cheap, but it got the job done. It helped that the pair I
shipped were rack mount, not desk-side.
As I figure my time is worth more than minimum wage and I own power
tools, it's cheaper and easier to build a crate. a sheet of 1/4"
sheathing-grade plywood, some 1x1 lath, a box of 1" lag screws and a
sheet of 2" styrofoam make a very nice crate for a Unibus box.
I'm also a huge fan of dock-to-dock shipping. It makes freight items
far cheaper to ship and removes most of the operations that invite
damage. Forward Air is my favorite.
