At some point I need to take a look at my system, as it
occasionally
resets itself (seemingly at random) - that may be a PSU problem,
but could of course be various other things, too. It's infrequent right
now (maybe once in a couple of hours of running)
- perhaps too infrequent to make diagnosis easy!
That's interesting because that's similar to what mine used to do. It
wasn't just a reset though. The power would go off, then suddenly come
back on again. It was erratic and unpredictable sometimes going for 20
mins without problems and the next minute switching back on and off.
Interestingly a previous owner had attached an extra (green) fan next to
the PSU heat sink. You can see it in the video when I show the mainboard
3.45 seconds in. That photo was taken when the original PSU was still
attached. Perhaps this was an attempt to solve the problem (maybe they
felt over-heating was an issue) or maybe it caused the problem in the first
place by drawing too much current?
I didn't realise the fan an extra addition until a friend pointed it
out...and this was just before the replacement PSU was due to arrive.
