The interface electronics for both 3.5 and 5.25 are the same--only
the NVRAM content is different--and that can be easily changed. Most
of the rest is PSU (most 5.25" drives require +12 in addition to +5)
and the physical box to hold it all in. You could even put a
5.25"/3.5" combo drive on the BP controller--it supports 2 drives.
I've never fooled with the BP tape drive, so I don't know what's
inside.
I've also got a Rancho Technologies parallel-to-floppy PCB, but
haven't bothered to figure out the programming protocol.
