Learning about the vintage experience is more than
just running a new

the experience as running on the hardware.
Often a modernish OS like NetBSD is the
easiest way to get an old,
original OS on the hardware. E.g. I used NetBSD to bootstrap 4.4BSD-Lite
on a HP9000-433t and to write a 2.11BSD boot / install tape for my
PDP-11/73.
Also: It is fun to see a modernish NetBSD run well on an old Sun Ultra2.
