Regarding this, it's not a big deal to have to have two drives, but would
it not be possible to do this with one drive? Could you not put a PC
formatted disk in the drive and start the process off, then remove the PC
disk and put a GCR disk in there? I imagine there may be sense hardware
that tells the controller that the drive mechanism is no longer engaged,
but if not, it seems like it might be possible to do this.

You can read more info at the downloadable zip file.
The "Disk2fdi.txt" will describe what the software can
do.
Take a look at the "Rawflopy.doc" file. There he
describes how to "fool" the FDC (floppy disk
controller) and read "other format" data. It makes
sense, and worth a try.... As soon as I find a 5,25
drive I'll try it....
