I replaced the ones in ours with a couple of pieces of stainless steel.
They still look like new--after the hardwater scale is removed. I find the
modern "cold mist" vaporizers noisy and high maintenance (requires filter
replacement). But for a slight AC hum, the old one is nearly silent.
