I've done it some time ago; I've written a command-line tool to read and
write disk images from/to floppies. It uses the libdsk library and is
capable of all formats that the FDC supports. The source is on our FTP
server (ftp.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/cm/utils/imd.c).
