Well, you can get schematics for the old scopes and
fix them yourselves.
Except when you can't get parts, which seem to be a lot of them
True about parts. Even for my easy-to-maintain 465B there are a lot
of mechanical parts and many electronic parts that can only be found
from "donor" scopes. Luckily (at least for
465B's) donor scopes (already
stripped somewhat) are commonly available on
E-bay.
