I remember some old 5.25" and 3.5" "IDE" drives in Compaq 386's,
possibly
some of the later 286 machines, before any WD drives were available. The
early drives were labeled Compaq, and the company that made them for Compaq
was conner peripherals, eventually marketing the drives them selves IIRC.
