I just took a quick look at the design, and in retrospect
I suspect 16bit addressing and data seems to be the limiting

Nothing, it is a 25 year old machine by now....
Still it sounds like a good project on this side
of the pond -
a well designed stack machine rather FORTH projects that
every body seems to be building.
