"Inflated" implies a comparison. And of
course prices are established by
supply and demand, and I think that is a good thing. The comparison, though,
is with the approx. $2K to $4K or so they have been selling for on ebay for
the past several years. That ad gives a LOT less detail than others that
sold for much less. Was it ignorance that drove the price up ... or was it
that the bidder knew something we don't? Perhaps this person emailed the
seller and did find out something that made it worth the extra money.
Or perhaps the deal won't even be consumated as was the case the last time
an Altair reached such a ridiculous sales price. Remember the $12K Altair
bid up by the woman for a third party a couple years back?
