program where I, honest to god, had to optimize the
code because I was something like 7 bytes too big, [...]
Remember... in the ART of
assembler programming.... shaving off the
size of the code is only 49% of the art. The 51% of the ART is
shaving off cpu cycles necessary to run it by careful choice of
instructions and algorithms and data structures :)
This reminds me of when I looked at the Tempest ROM images. That's a
full game in only 24K of ROM - and something like 4K of RAM. I was
very impressed. There's something like half the ROM code that I still
don't really understand....
