Forgot the caveats - if you're using a *real* C-64 system, your image is
going to be limited to the capacity of a Commodore floppy, which is about
170K - and ultimately, to the video / system memory on the 64. So you'll
obviously have to convert the image (GIF, whatever) to a low-color, low-res
rendering.
I never did image exchanges back in the day, so I can't suggest a C-64
specific format that is also handled by a conventional image viewer /
manipulator like Irfanview and so forth.

The generic advice goes like this: You'll need an
image display software
on the C-64 side which handles *some* kind of reasonably standard image
format (GIF will be easiest, I believe). Then it's a matter of taking your
shot, importing it to PC and converting it to (GIF, whatever) and porting
 it over to the C-64.
Find some GIF display software for the C-64 first, or whatever. After
that, it's just work-a-day stuff and a data transfer. =)
 That help at all?

Does anyone have any advice on how to take a

a Commodore 64? I have a rather crazy art project in mind.
