Will that pass inspection? The typical concrete slab
is what, 3"-4" thick,
tops? You may want to cut through the slab, dig a hole and pour a real
footing for the beam.
Not a bad idea at all. In time the slab will crack, having point loads
like columns, and then problems come up that you really do not want to
deal with.
Digging footings is not all that bad, and well worth it.
