On anohter subject somewhat related, I hear they're pretty decent Linux
boxes - or at least the pricing for the Linux is likely better than for
OS/390. I may have even been think along the lines of the S/38.

IBM gets a lot of press mileage out of running Linux native on the
390. But ALL the folks I know who actually run production S/390s like
VM + virtual Linux servers much better. Makes sense to me as the best
of both worlds.
I should say 10s of thousands of virtual Linux servers....
