I think that the venerable 6888 pentode was designed specifically for Grid 3 computer
logic applications.
Then there were the tetrodes that were classified as "dual control grid".
All sorts of interesting stuff to be found in tube manuals. Did the 6BN6 gated-beam tube
ever see computer application?
The not-uncommon 6AS6 pentode (RF amp, 7-pin mini) was used for the control gate in HP
digital counters.
From a datasheet: "The suppressor grid .. is
intended to be used as a second control grid in gating, switching or mixer service."
Of course, the notion of using more than one grid for control goes back to heterodyne
mixers, and other apps, well before computers.
