I am told the
isocyano acrylic hydro-copolymerising adhesives on general
sale to the public are deliberately weakened so that idiots can't stick
themselves permanently together with them.
This was done many years ago after a famous case in which a wife glued
her unfaithful husband to himself as he slept (no... she didn't cut
anything off, but the doctors just about did). I belive the solvent
that breaks the bonds in the current formulation is acetone.
I used to work with a woman that did that to her husband. I
thought that was an urban legend, but she carried the article
from the newspaper around with her.
She was a fiesty woman, and I used to think it was funny that
she and a couple other older women (they were in their 50's)
in the group would get together regularly and play poker and
drink beer until 3 or 4 in the morning, then show up to work
at 5:30!
