I think I prefer reel-to-reel tape. At 7.5ips at least, prefereably 15ips.
I got reel to reel here, but sticky tape and warped reels are a problem.
I found that aluminium reels don't warp at least unless you step on them :-)
And I do find it curious that you have problems with reel-to-reel tape
but not with 8 track cartirdiges. The latter seem much more likely to jam up.
