But a little picture of a printer works everywhere.
I have very recent software that uses an icon of a 5.25" floppy (or
maybe it's an 8" floppy) for "Save to disk". How many people today
even knows what a 5.25" floppy looks like? When will the icon of a
floppy of any stripe cease to have any popular meaning?
An icon of a printer is useful as long as printers keep looking like
the icon. At one time, most printers resembled the top half of a
typewriter. Most don't today.
