I think it's very much how we "should
be" referring to "Xerox
copies" and "Kleenex tissue" and "Styrofoam expanded
polystyrene",
Is there _anyone_ who talks about a 'Hoover electric suction sweeper' ?
Over hewre, the term 'Hoover' although a trademark is used to refer to
any form of vacuum cleaner used to clean floors, etc, no matter who made
it. In fact many Ellish dictionaries will give a defintion of 'Hoover'
(albeit also pointing out that it is a trademark)
but no one really does, which contributes to the
dilution of
the trademark. For example, you would still call it a
"Remington shaver", though in some part that's so people don't
think you're shaving with a shotgun.
Or a typewriter?
