The first aftermarket board that I bought for my 5150 was a Boulder Creek

I bought a piggyback-over-the DRAMs kit from an outfit called Purple
Computer to go from 64K to 256K. I later added a Quadboard.
By then, it wasn't worth fooling with a 5150. It was easier to purchase
a new Taiwanese case and motherboard and get 640K and 8 slots. It
seemed that every strip mall in Santa Clara county had some guy selling
Taiwanese clone material out of a storefront. Most were Taiwanese
themselves--I suspect they simply called Uncle Wu and had him fill a
shipping container with goodies.
