I don't want to be accused of defending the PC architecture nor the MS
BASIC interpreter.
I think for that to happen on a PC, the compiler must
be seriously
broken. As in, it should not have been released.
It was VERY broken.
But, ...
it was still usable for teaching beginning FORTRAN at a very cheap cost.
